Hi everyone,

After updating today to Froyo 2.2, my mobile won't go on the internet anymore. Im with o2 and entered the correct APN settings and done resets. Does anyone have any advice for me otherwise I would like to downgrade back to 2.1 if that could enable my internet to work.

Any advice guys?:)

Many thanks,

Dino

Hi all

I have exactly the same problem as Dino and I am with exactly the same provider, O2. Oh and the other half of the world is awake surely someone has had the same problem as this and can help.

Someone told me today that they were having similar problems on the O2 network and that it was a problem with O2 but I do not think it is I believe it's because I uprgraded (???) to Froyo.

HHHMM not a lot of hope of any help here then Dino LOL. Just to let you know that I reverted mine back to 2.1 and it still wouldn't connect to the web via the network. It connects fine via my home network router tho. So I'm not so sure it is the software now. Anyway I'm gonna try some different versions of Froyo and I'll keep this thread updated.

Cheers

what i was meaning is give people a chance, i was waiting for an answer on something, after god knows how many views, and the next day, right person, right answer.

i'm no use, haven't had this particular problem, good luck, hope one one of the more techno savvy members can help you, i'm pretty useless at most computer things...

pete- i take it the phone is rooted?

Hi Skivit
Nope it's not rooted. I initially wanted to upgrade the OPS to 2.2 from 2.1. To be honest the newer operating system is not available in the UK in spite of Samsung saying it would be. I have tried a Far East version of teh software and a European version but I get the same problem with both i.e. neither will connect to the internet via the O2 network but will connect via my home router.

Anyway thanks for response and I wasn't specifically getting at you. It just would seem that me and Dino cannot be the only ones in the "awake" world that have had this same problem.

Cheers

no probs mate :)
i'm still on 2.1, need to hand in my phone to provider while they take 2 weeks to upgrade( gotta be a joke that one! ), the rest of the country already had the upgrade thru Kies.

dont know if i'll bother upgrading, only apps2sd seems to be the main benefit, some people having other issues since the upgrade, i've just put Go Launcher Ex on and its transformed the look and use of the phone.

gonna ask a silly question again, but no task killer or 3G watchdog/apndroid that could be blocking you? what do O2 say?

(anyone else want to jump in, nows the time! :-)

Hi cris Couldn't sleep LOL. It would seem that Dino has sorted his. I came across a couple of posts of his on the Giff Gaff forum. Anyway I think it's probably APN settings that need to be sorted. I got Samsung to send me settings but they haven't worked. Also on the carphone warehouse site (they supplied my phone) the are selling the Apollo with 2.2 already on. Now as I only got my phone a couple of weeks ago I'm wondering why mine didn't come with Froyo. Anyway I can upgrade using Kies but it wont upgrade the version of 2.2 that I have on so I'm going to have to downgrade to 2.1 and then try the Kies upgrade. The only prob with that stratedgy is the only way I managed to upgrade to 2.2 was to use the method on Andriodadvices. The methods given on this website didn't work for me either for the upgrade or the downgrade. So I'm kinda stuck now till someone tecky comes in and helps.

Cheers

Hi all
My last post on this subject.

I just had this fantastic idea about ringing BT (as I am on the O2 network) and asking them what the APN settings are for my Samsung Apollo GT-15800 phone. I did actually buy my phone from Carphone Warehouse and you woulda thought I coulda got the settings from them. Well I did but the Carphone Warehouse settings are wrong, surprise surprise LOL

Anyway for those of you that have a Samsung Apollo GT-15800 and are on the 02 Pay As You Go network (don't forget that O2s different networks have different settings, so for instance if you are on a contract the settings will be different) these are the APN settings for the Pay As You Go sim card.

name----o2.prepay

APN-----payandgo.02.co.uk

proxy---193.113.200.195

port-----8080

user name--payandgo

password--password

server----not set

MMSC----http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002

MMS proxy--193.113.200.195

MMS port---8080

MCC----234

MNC---10

Authentication type---PAP

APN type--internet+mms

Again I stress that if you are on a different O2 tarrif or your phone is not a Samsung Apollo GT-15800 then these settings will not work. These are the settings you need after you have done a manual software upgrade on a Samsung Apollo GT-15800 that is strapped to an O2 Pay As You Go tarrif. Oh, and BT cannot MMS these settings to you (I dunno why) so you have to input them manually on to your phone as he reads them out so make sure you get someone you can understand. (I say that as a welsh person with a very strong welsh accent LOL)

Hope that is a help to someone out there.

Cheers

I bought my Apollo from CPW, it was 2.1 and came with an O2 SIM (that I replaced with my existing O2 payg SIM).

Upgraded to 2.2 a few weeks ago using instructions from this site, and have had absolutely NO problems with the APN settings transferring with the upgrade.

Shame I didn't spot your post a few days ago, I could have saved you that phonecall to BT by telling you the settings that work on my phone.

LOL@cris.

Ah well Tigs I have got the right settings now. I have no idea why the settings didn't transfer over when I did the upgrade. To be honest I tried a few versions of Froyo and the first one was a Korean version so probably that had something to do with it.
