Aftermarket 360 controller problems fire tv

From what I've read a wired xbox360 controller should work but I've tried two different controllers with no luck. The mapping is off. Does it have to be an actual Microsoft controller? Both were aftermarket.
 
I was informed that the xbox 360 wired controllers are now supported by the Amazon Fire tv. This came right from the Amazon tech
