aide memoire for HTC Desire

Hi, my daughter has given me her old HTC Desire phone. More stuff to confuse me. On my old (simple) Nokia I could write notes and save them on the phone. On the HTC it has a calendar which isn't what i want. It has an app for "quick office but it doesn't work, when I press the app it just tells me "there are no files on you SD card. So anyone know of anything I can down load to use as an aide memoire that is simple to use. :rolleyes:
