AIM App Without Data?

Are there any AIM apps on the Android market that use no data (being able to have 3G data turned off while using it), and sending it as text instead? My old texting phone counted AIM in my messaging/texting package, and I would like this do the same.

I haven't checked the market, but I'd wager that most (if not all) the apps require data. How did you get it to text your old phone?

My old phone (which was not a smartphone), had an AIM app built into it and sent the messages without using any data. Instead it took it from my texting/messaging package

Thanks for your help, I'll probably end up doing that when I'm not on Wi-Fi unless I find an AIM app that doesn't use data.
