Alarm while phone power is off

Hello,

Is there a way for the alarm to go off while the power of the Droid is off?

This was one of the core features for me for the past 12 years that I am using a phone, however the Droid doesn

Nope, no more than an alarm on your computer can work if you've turned the computer off.

I feel your pain, I still miss that capability of my old Razr. I just don't turn the phone off, and I rarely use it as an alarm.

Well i found a different kind of solution...

I'll use the alarm on my old E71. Turn it off, and put it on the side of the bed - permanently... Every morning the alarm will be going off from E71...

It's a funny thing that a smartphone will be used from now on only as an alarm :-)

Just in general i don't like spending unnecessary power against the environment and at night i want to shut off devices - such as my phone...

The other thing you can do is to use Airplane mode. That turns off the phone and wi-fi, but leaves the device functioning as a PDA, so that alarms and notifications still get through.

Yeah, but he doesn't want to leave the phone on.

ok thanks guys... Well i suppose there is nothing i can do other than either use offline mode or turn it off and get something else as an alarm!

i downloaded locale, seems nice.
These kind of programs "eat" a lot of the battery? Since they need to be working in the background?

I'd recommend you do a search on here concerning Locale. Not only is it overpriced, there are other concerns.

Depends. I won't mention any specific apps because it seems the community has already developed "strong feelings", but I can say this:
-- If your app is programmed to trigger on certain times (or other predictable events), then it will (probably) consume no power even though it may be listed as "running".
-- If on the other hand your app is programmed to trigger on more complex events or states, the case may be different. For instance, if you want a state to be triggered by geographical position, then the app needs to keep an eye on your whereabouts. If it uses the "fine" location sensor then it will cause the GPS to periodically power up, consuming power.
-- I guess keeping an eye on the battery level (say, to enter a low power state) is more battery hungry than a plain timer, but much less so than a location-based state.
