Welcome, Irishfan1! I see that you've asked more or less the same question in the thread for your Android device. So I'm guessing that you're looking for solutions that go beyond the device itself. Is that correct?
How many wireless devices are connected (or attempting to connect) to your wireless access point? You may have saturated the WAP. Another thing to check is the DHCP leases vs. the number of IP addresses available for lease. If your WAP is operating without any restrictions, you could have every Wi-Fi device in the area trying to connect to yours first because it's the first open Internet gateway they see. That's why proper management of your WAP is something that needs to be done. If your WAP is restricted by WPA and or other tools, and it's a high-bandwidth 802.11n type, you may have simply run out of usable bandwidth even if you do have enough free IP addresses.

I do have restricted access (password protected) for my WAP. At times I have had up to 5 devices connected without any problems. I have true to connect just the 995 with nothing else and it still will not work. My wireless router is several years old an is using the "g" band. Could that be the issue?

Offhand I wouldn't think so. It might be some age-related problem, or maybe a software bug that hasn't been patched. Who knows...
Since I don't know anything about your Android device, I can't help you there.
One last thought: How does it work on other Wi-Fi networks? Can you at least get an IP address at public hotspots? If so, it might be time for a new Internet gateway/WAP appliance at home. (After dealing with literally millions of dollars worth of enterprise Cisco equipment, I just can't bring myself to call those other things "routers".) When I got my second Android device, I went with a new box mainly because it's still supported by the manufacturer, but also so it's most compatible with the newer Wi-Fi radios in my Android stuff. Just a thought.
Thanks for the advice. It seems to work fine on other public hotspots or my work wireless network. I probably just need to buy some new equipment at home.

I'm one of those people who hates to throw away or even not use stuff that's merely old. I love to repurpose. But in the case of my various assorted Wi-Fi access points that I used mostly for testing other radios (I still prefer the speed, stability and security of wired or fiber networking) and my new Wi-Fi Android devices, I decided to get something brand new after limping along with a not-that-old WAP that lacked little things like a WPS button. It's not that you can't get the older stuff to work. It's more like I only had to spend what I consider a reasonable amount of money to get all the new features and be done with it.
