Help All apps seem to be gone

dok

Lurker
I was using my Chrome on Android 4.1.2 on Samsung Galaxy S II and phone suddenly crashed. When phone restarted it looked like all apps are gone, even Google Play.

App Drawer shows only standard apps like Camera, FM radio, Internet, Messaging, Phone, Samsung Apps etc. but all other cannot be seen there.

When I go to Google Play using my computer, and I try to install or uninstall, I get message that an app will be installed or uninstalled in a few moments, but nothing happens because Google Play on my phone is gone or cannot be started.

Application Manager lists my apps under DOWNLOADED label, but instead of apps names (e.g. Chrome or Viber) it shows app IDs (com.android.chrome or com.viber.voip) and instead of app icons it shows some gray icon with labels Android and SD. Under ON SD CARD label it there are no apps. I don’t have external SD card in my phone.

I used Android System Recovery to wipe cache partition and it wiped cache for all except Chrome cache.

I uninstalled the Chrome but it didn't fix the problem.

What can be problem? Is my internal storage corrupted? If so, how can I fix it? How can I get my apps back?

If it boots into safety mode you have possibly a corrupt app which you should uninstall. If no apps show in safety mode reinstall play store and see if you can rebuild your apps and hopefully keep the data

I went into safety mode and I uninstalled almost all apps but a few that have the data I want to save.

I think that Chrome caused my problems because I was using it when the phone crashed and it was the only app that app manager showed to have cache even after I wiped all the cache using Android System Recovery.

How can I reinstall Play Store?

I installed Play Store and started it. It started to open, but before it fully opened, it crashed. I got the message: Unfortunately, Google Play Store has stopped.

I tried to install the Viber from APK and I got the message: The application you are installing will replace another application. All previous user data will be saved.

I believe that it means that Viber is still there, but somehow I cannot start it, just like I cannot start any other app I have installed.

Maybe the storage was corrupted.

I installed the apps that had the data I wanted to save and save the data. After that I did factory reset, reinstalled all apps and it works again.
