ALL Note 7's affected by battery issue except Chinese models

It would seem that the culprit behind the exploding batteries is Samsung's own SDI subsidiary. They produced all the batteries for the Note 7, worldwide, with the exception of the Chinese models which come with batteries produced by the Hong Kong based, Amperex Technology, and are not affected.

"As a follow-up of the battery issue, we decided to temporally stop using Samsung SDI’s battery for Galaxy Note 7," several Korean media outlets quoted sources from Samsung Electronics as saying.

"Samsung SDI is claimed to have supplied up to 70% of batteries used in the Galaxy Note7, while the remaining were supplied by Hong Kong-based Amperex Technology, which is a unit of Japan's TDK Corp. For its part, Amperex has made it clear that it only supplied batteries for Galaxy Note7 units sold in China, the only region which is unaffected by the recall."

So, unless you are using one of the Chinese variants of the Galaxy Note 7, your phone will be running on one of the affected batteries.

In light of these continuing reports of exploding Note 7 batteries, you would, IMHO, be a fool NOT to exchange the handset as per Samsung or your carrier's instructions. After all, do you really want to play Russian roulette with your life and the lives of your loved ones?

Although not officially launched in the U.K; there are a few Note 7 owners and they have been given a date of the 19th September for exchanges to commence...

The Xda article implies the device wasn't being charged at the time, but going through the reddit thread and imgur links takes me to this: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2016/09/04/samsung-galaxy-note-7-recall-phone-explodes-winthrop/

That implies it was (it it's the same incident).

However, further digging shows this - https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/co...omeone_whos_note_7_exploded/d7c8xmu?context=3

And I found this too - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ll-Galaxy-Note-7-smartphone-battery-fire.html (please accept my apologies for linking to a soulless rag like the daily mail).

El Presidente! How can you possibly say that about a fine tabloid newspaper such as the Daily Mail that has a reputation for not letting the truth get in the way of a good story. Look at their opening statement...

"Footage of charred Galaxy Note 9 online has gone viral"
