The Backgrounds app in the market is a good start, followed by Zedge.

ya I got those, but I still feel really limited with those. Is there a way to get a background from photobucket?
There are quite a few ways. You can save the image via the browser on your PC, mount your device's memory card and copy it over. You can save the image via the browser on your device, etc...
It would help to know what device you have since it's not in your profile and whether you're using your stock browser or one you downloaded.

there is a photobucket app - go to their site. I'm not sure it does what you want though.

You could always make your own through paint/photoshop. That's how I acquired mine. Dimensions are 960x800.
