Alternate upgrade steps and getting it right so I keep unlimited data.

Just got back from costo with a new S4. Upgraded one of our feature phone lines.

What's confusing to me is that the Costco Kiosk rep said I don't actually have to turn on the S4 until I'm ready to move it to the line my S3 is currently on.

To make things more complicated, I have a warranty replacement coming for the S3, so I won't be moving the S4 over until after I get the S3 and activate it first.

I'd like to reactivate the old feature phone back but am worried that it will do something funky to my account if I don't first setup my S4 on that line first. The rep said that the phone is activated on that account but it doesn't actually have to be turned on and setup.

On my account, it shows my new 2 GB data plan on the upgrade number, but it doesn't show the model of the phone for that line which should be the S4. Let's call that line B, the one I upgraded that had the feature phone on it.

My S3 is on line A and is still currently activated on that. Plus I'm getting the replacement unit for that. I assume I have to activate the replacement on line A before I can hock it on ebay?

I don't believe you have to activate the replacement s3 before you sell it, because i bought a thunderbolt that was a replacement that someone didn't activate after they got another phone. But it might have chnaged

I did go ahead and turn the S4 on and press the activate step which took about 3 minutes. It finished and I turned the S4 off.

I assume I'm good to go now to put the old feature phone back on that line and that will release the S4.

Well, the online system won't let me do it. When I select "Activate or Switch Device", it wants me to go through the activation process for my replacement S3 which I did get today. So I went ahead and went through the activation process and turned on the replacement S3 and activated it. It's now all active.

But when I select "Activate or Switch Device" again, it again wants me to go through the activation process for the replacement. I don't get the option to add some other device.
