Help alternate way to reach open apps menu?

On my old phone, a Kyocera Rise, the bottom right "button" pulled a menu with thumbnails of open apps. If you swipe them to the side, they close.

On this phone, I somehow discovered pressing the volume down button and the center button together will bring up this menu. It's very awkward. I would like to access this menu frequently. Is there an alternate way? Can I change the button configuration, or make a shortcut on the home screen?

Just press the center button and hold it will bring up the recently used programs and you can swipe them closed or close all, search for an app and clear ram. No need to hold the volume button to get the menu to pop up.
