Am I stupid ???

New Android user here. I am trying to figure out how to enter the second characters that are on the QWERTY keyboard.

for example the ":" above the "." .

For some reason I can't figure this out .... I know it is something easy that I should know, LOL

press and hold... known as a long press. It is used in many instances to pull up additional options.

Might help to specify the device. The Droid has an Alt key, for example.
