Saw this on Slashdot. Just very cool new tech. Can only begin to imagine the usage.

so .. it is a microphone for vibrations..
it cant see anything...or where it is being touched.

hears one sound.. then it plays back a different sound...


right?

Basically, but the idea is that is programmable, even to the level of "gestures"

Think of it like voice recognition for vibrations.

Seems like now a few microphones could be used in concert to make any surface a touchscreen. Time of arrival to the mikes could be used to compute the exact location touched - voila - a full touchscreen of any size, without a full touchscreen matrix supporting all of the possibly-touched points.

EM.. that is interesting..

but can see a lot of issues with that tech... but has potential
