That price match guarentee is no joke. Radio Shack is now selling the HTC One X for $49 bucks, if you are the primary line on a family plan upgrade. I've heard horror stories about Radio Shack though. I had preordered from Amazon. I just called them, and they matched the $49 on the spot. The deal was so good, I had to share!

No problem man. I am completely new to the android world and this will be my first android phone. Im kinda jacked!

Anyway, another nice little surprise: if you look at your confirmation email, you will notice that amazon ships a "free gift" to you as well. Its a free car charger! I know it probably only costs a few bucks on ebay, but i think it's pretty cool for them to do that. Just my two cents.

This is what happened when I tried to upgrade with ATT.



Call 1 (Apr 22): I call to upgrade to the new HTC One X. They offer me a discounted price of $179.

I totally believe the story. The AT&T reps are some of the most clueless people in history. I already ordered from Amazon, but I couldn't wait, and I stopped in an ATT store to see it in person today. They reps had no idea when they were allowed to sell it. (Sunday). I start playing with it, and ask if the camera burst is as cool as it seems. Two guys have no idea what I'm talking about. If it isn't IPhone, they know nothing.

However, how did you not know that it doesn't come out until Sunday? It's all over the net. You'll get it eventully. Trust me, it is awesome.

Not all reps are like that. you're more than welcome to come to my store in central WI, i'll talk phones with you all day.

I would love to know the answer to this. I had been holding out to find out what processor would be in the SGS3, but i'm all about the One-X now that i know they share the same one. Can't decide if i should Amazon it or search it out in a store.
 
I know Amazon says backordered, but i think thats because they phone isnt released yet. The rep I spoke to said that it would be here on the 9 (shipped on the 7th, with 2 day shipping).

He was quite confident that they had the phone, it just wasnt available yet.

Same here.

Although I will admit that sometimes our reps dont make us looks very good with some of the stuff they say or do.

BTW, many times the order status will show "backorder" when the phone isn't available yet because its on pre-order. I know its kinda dumb. Why not just say "preorder" or something but thats how the system shows it.
 
Hey Oridus, do you want to do my upgrades? I have 5 eligible lines...
Oh, and I live in NJ.
I wish I had a competent guy in my neighborhood to deal with.
 
I'm going to call the AT&T guy and see if he's oblivious enough to sell me the One X tomorrow. I figured if he doesn't know and they have it in stock he may just sell it not realizing they shouldn't til Sunday.

It won't work. The guy on the phone will take your payment but the guys at the warehouse know not to ship it and you will be put on line for back orders. Even if the phone guy swears he's shipping it, it isn't up to him.

Then you won't be allowed to cancel the back order. They did that to me back on the 22nd when ATT didn't even get the phones from HTC yet. I had to email the CEO to get the order cancelled.

Trust me. I've been through this twice.

I read about your ordeal. I was thinking more popping in and seeing if I can get them to sell me one. The way I look at it is they are not going to get shipped Sunday so they'll have them Friday or Saturday if they already don't.

You have to select the family plan upgrade and then it knocks it down to $49.99.

Or better yet just call the 1-800 on the left side of the page and order it over the phone. That's what I did.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Some are clueless but the vast majority know their stuff. It is generally the customer who is clueless.
