I just bought the HTC Hero Android and I am bummed just due to the fact that my Kindle that was on my Itouch wont work on here.
Is there a reader like the kindle that has authors from nowadays> I found several but the list of books are all old etc

Those several you found can read books from mutiple locations, don't get hung up thinking whats avaliable for free inside the application are your only options.
 
I don't get it. Isn't google releasing Google Editions this summer as well. supposedly that has 4 million titles, to Amazon's 500,000, and includes a giant library of free books.
