An app that beat the speeding ticket!

This article makes me think of two incidents I had about a decade ago. I was involved in two car collisions. Both times, the car in front of me backed into me. I for fortunate that both times, the other driver admitted it and accepted liability.

While I was reporting the claim, the adjuster mentioned that if the other driver disputed the circumstances of the collision and said that I had rear ended him/her, then I would be liable unless I can prove otherwise. This made me think about using technology of some sort to log my car's speed. At the time, I did not know about GPS and was thinking more in terms of mounting a camera to log my drive. Now, there is smartphone technology that can also log my car's direction of motion. There is likely other technology that does the same and may be built into cars as well. Had the other driver in those cases gave conflicting statements, technology like this could allow me to prove that I was not liable for those collisions.

I've got My Tracks installed already, I have a charger in the car, and I drive a lot. I should start running that app when I'm driving.
