Andoid stopped serving as Access Point

Hello

Can anyone please help me? In a public place I activated my Android 7.0 Access Point to connect my PC thru it. I created it unprotected. Yes, I know that was wrong... :( After some minutes I found there were 2 more users, who were near me, using my AP. I tried to disconnect them and created it again protected.

From that moment I couldn't access again from my PC thru this AP. I deleted and created again the Access Point, different names, with or without protection, restarted Android, restarted PC, tried a lot of modifications but couldn't access anymore.

The access from Android to Internet works fine, access from PC to Internet thru other APs work fine, everything works fine, except when trying to use any AP in the Android. I tried also with other PC, same result. The only thing I haven't done is to restart Android device to factory mode.

It seems it entered in any "protected mode" and does not allow any more access thru it.

Can anyone please help me finding a way to correct the situation without factory reset?

Thank you for any help any one can give me.

Fernando

That was indeed a really, really bad thing to do. Intentionally exposing your phone in a public setting like that, even briefly, was an invitation to get compromised. At this point, there's no way to determine just how serious the problem may be. You're referring to just a failed hotspot issue but you might want to address your phone's overall security now. You might want to try going into your Settings >> Wireless & networks >> More and select the 'Network settings reset' option. This will wipe all your network-related settings and return them to their defaults so you'll need to re-enter any saved WiFi networks, Bluetooth pairings, etc. This might correct your hotspot problem but again, this is a pretty serious matter. You opened you phone up for anyone to access it, and in public venue, so a Factory Reset is probably the least thing you should do. Back up your data to a computer and do the FR, and on that computer be sure to scan your backed up files with an up-to-date anti-virus/anti-malware utility before restoring your data to your phone.

Thank you svim for your reply.

Yes, that was the first and last time I've done it. :(

Your suggestion worked fine! Now on my way to the HardReset... I have no data except phone numbers, some photos and PlayStore'ed programs, so it's not that bad to Reset it.

Thank you again for your help!
