I've looked also and my OCD is kicking my backside.
Everything I find says it's based on use.
Looks like you can remove them on Samsung phones, but not ours.

I just wanna cuss and kick something. My recent apps, 5 apps shortcuts ALL changed.

Settings,
Gallery, (which I've never used),
Memos, (again, which I've never used),
Alarm, (only rarely used),
And finally a calendar notification, for a recurring event.

I can't stand the random change on this.

That is exactly what happened to me!
EXACTLY! How is this possible? It must be programmed into Android 10 to screw with our minds at periodic intervals. And why isn't it mentioned anywhere on the internet?
