Since the OS has to be built separately for each different model of phone, manufacturers make their own modifications and carriers modify it further, if this is a problem with the update it's likely to be specific to your device and possibly your device on your carrier. Hence the first thing is to tell us what device this is. But I doubt that you'll find this is a general problem: the dialer is a system app, and even the most cursory testing would detect that that wasn't working, so it's unlikely that the manufacturer/carrier would release an update with that problem.
If you have problems after an update, especially a significant OS update, one thing that's worth trying is backing up and doing a factory reset. You could also try uninstalling and reinstalling the email app and seeing whether that helps (obviously not an option for the dialer).

Tnx for your answer! my device is galaxy s6 edge, i allredy treid uninstalling and reinstalling the email app but nothing changed. maby i should reset the device after backing it up and see what happened.
I wanted to know that i'm not the only one who have those problems.

Hello all. I'm new to this site, but I too am experiencing problems with the latest 5.1.1 update. My Note 5 came installed minus the update. It worked like a charm, quick response, good battery, no issues at all. Since the update, I have noticed sluggishness in closing out of apps, significant battery drain, it wiped all of my photos taken with the camera but kept the ones I transferred over. The most irritating issue is my "in-call" volume resets to 1/4 volume. So every call I have to turn the volume back up. Is there an easy fix for this besides a factory reset? I have already performed a wipe on my cache partition which did nothing. Keep waiting for a possible patch being released. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
