Android 7 and 8

My Moto G4 Play is running 6.0.1 and I read online it's compatible with 7 or 8, I don't remember which but I haven't gotten anything about updating it and when I go to system updates it says it's all up to date.

From what I've read Motorola is supposed to update the G4 Play to 7 sometime in the future. They will not be updating it to 8 though.

If you're just referring to custom ROMs, Oreo is just about done for this phone. There are still a few kinks to work out (like encryption not working), but one of the guys I knew from XDA has Lineage 15.1 just about nailed down to the point where it's good enough for a daily driver
