You : I contacted LG since it is an LG device. They said the device is capable and eligible to receive the update to Android 8.0. They suggested I contact Sprint and Google for further information.

Jennalyn C. : I am now checking for more details
Jennalyn C. : It shows that the Android 8.0 will be released sometime in the 1st quarter of this year
Jennalyn C. : That is expected to be on April
You : That's great news. Does it specifically list the LS992 as a recipient of the update?
Jennalyn C. : You got it correctly. It says, Android 8.0 version or Oreo update for LG G5 LS992 will be released as expected on the 1st quarter of the year 2018

I will be happy with my G6 being current on security patches I am still on December 1st security patch. My view on 8.0 is by the time I actually get it (if I get it) within a few months it will be obsolete

I figured the G6 would be up to date on security patches. Hard to believe yours is stuck on December. Anyway, you'll definitely get 8.0 if not 8.1 here in a little while.
