Now gone in v 9,10

Double tap on- off is great. Gone in 9,10. Why

Every version going backwards ! Keyboard word correction. Is as smart now as the democrats!

LOL @hansened Politics aside, there is a trade-off with each new major OS upgrade. Some favorite features disappear: new features appear, hoping to become our new favorites.

While I can't address the memo in each gallery photo (I never used the feature, although naming the photo and assigning tags may have the same effect), double-tap is alive and well even into Android 11. My Samsung Galaxy device requires that I turn that on in Settings (look in Motions and Gestures for "double tap" to turn on and off screen).

If you aren't happy with your keyboard's corrections or suggestions, and I certainly wasn't, there are plenty of keyboard options from which you can choose. I hope this helps... if not, at least you have a sympathetic ear! I feel your pain...

One thing you have to remember is that you aren't just running Android 8, 9, 10, you are running LG's software based on Android 8, 9, 10, which will include extra features LG have added and may not include Android features that LG decided not to include (replace "LG" with any other manufacturer and the same is true). Hence when an "Android 9 upgrade" removes a feature you don't necessarily know whether that is because Android 9 does not include it or because LG decided to change/move/remove it.

I can tell you that double tap to wake didn't change at all between Android 8, 9, 10 and 11 on the Pixels. Android version made no difference at all to my keyboards either, so I suspect that any changes there will be because you are using an LG keyboard (word correction is always a feature of the keyboard app, and never a part of the operating system). Like @The_Chief I can't comment on the gallery memo feature because I never even knew it existed (and wouldn't have used it anyway), so don't even know whether that's an Android feature or an LG Gallery feature.

These features are definitely on the phones I've got, with Android 10(Huawei Mate10) and 11(Samsung Note20 Ultra). I guess removal was something LG has done on their particular devices.
