Android and iphone don't communicate w each other

My Moto g3 phone doesn't receive calls from my wife's iphone (go ahead, but I've already heard all the jokes about that). Nor does her phone receive calls from my g3 android phone. Same with texting. So, where is the fault? My phone or hers?

Thanks in advance (and stop snickering) :-)

Are you having any other issues exchanging phone calls and text messages with other people too, or is it just with your wife?
Conversely is she having any of the same with other people, or is it just with you?
This might help determine if the problem is with one phone or the other, or with your carrier(s).

Sorry--I should have made it clear that neither of us has experienced this issue with calls and/or texts to and from any other phones. I wonder if one of us has inadvertently summoned or altered a function in our settings, blocked calls from a specific number, or something like that. Neither of us is particularly adept with cell phone technology and wouldn't know how to block a number anyway.
My carrier is Consumer Cellular and hers is T-Mobile. Neither of us has this issue with our daughter's phone which is also on T-Mobile under my wife's account.
Thank you for your willingness to help.

Go into your call/dialing app, click the 3 dots in the upper right. Look for blocked or filtered or spam (should show as blocked but I'm not sure on a Moto), see if her number is there. You can also check in the contacts app, she may show as blocked - again select the 3 dots to see if she's blocked or can be unlocked.
I'm not overly familiar with iPhones and don't have one handy to play with, hopefully someone can help with that but check similar settings if you can.

This seems a likely cause, let's hope it's that simple!

If you or your wife did inadvertently block the other's number that would fit into the problem you're having. It could be one of you accidentally blocked the other's phone number while using the phone app or text messenger app. Follow up on what @Clementine_3 suggested.

OK, we have the issue half-fixed. What we did: deleted each other's contacts, rebooted our phones, and re-added each other as contacts. She can now call and text me. However, if I call her, the call goes immediately to her voice mail. And if I text her, it doesn't seem to go through at all. I don't see how that is possible, given that we added e.o. as contacts only a minute prior. Frustrating.

BTW, we did what Clementine_3 suggested. Or at least, I did on my phone. However, we don't know the iphone equivalent to the three dots at the top right on an android phone screen.
