Android and privacy(what can google access and keep?)

Hi everyone,

does anybody know how android works ? I have read that google is collecting data from android, same like in chrome (but in chrome you can opt no). Do you guys now what data they can collect/access on a android phone ? Like personal contacts, pictures, search phrases ? I want to get me an android phone but this annoys me.

You can enable sharing of your position (but its disabled by default), contacts/tasks/gmail is synchronized with Gmail account, so they also keep all your contacts on their server (this can be also disabled). And, of course, Android market has informations, which applications have you installed trough Market and its used for updates. In browser, typed address is sent to Google, but just to offer the URL you probably want to type in (like Chrome). During search, informations are also sent to Google (it's logical, if you search in internet). No photos or any other data are shared.
Practically, Google doesn't collect any informations about you (except phone activation, you need to enter valid Gmail account) if you don't want. You can enter your contacts by hand, install applications from other sources, but this way you also lose some "comfort".
And as everyone knows after last case (uninstalling of 2 applications remotely), Google can also delete installed applications (hopefully only dangerous applications).
It's more than Windows Mobile (which has no management and no remote synchronization or some kind of Market, but this will also change with WM7), let's say the level of Google rights is same like Apple on iPhone.
