Android APK App Shorcuts

i had to download an apk for for an app that is no longer available on Play store. does anyone know where i can get the shortcut for this app for my homescreen? tried under play store, app drawer.
i can find it under settings-apps, but no idea how to make a shortcut?

If you only downloaded the apk, then you must install it first. It should then at least show up in your app drawer if not put a shortcut on your home screen.

Once installed, open your app drawer, find its icon, long press and hold it, drag to your home screen

You can make home screen shortcuts for any file or folder.

Did you install that file on your phone after downloading it? Unlike Google Play, the apk file won't be automatically installed on your device. You have to manually install it. I've downloaded and then installed Dead Trigger 3 APK from apktovi, and found that the shortcut of this app still shows up on my homescreen. If you haven't installed it yet, try to find the downloaded file on your file manager.
