Android Auto Issues

I recently installed an Android Auto head unit in my Dodge Truck. Initially prior to the 8.1.0 OS update it worked without issue on both of my devices (Pixel XL & Pixel XL2) but now the Pixel XL2 will not always recognize that it is connected via USB cable. If I plug in the Pixel XL it launches as it should. If I plug in the Pixel XL2 it ‘may’ connect after approximately 3 to 5 minutes, and it may not connect at all.

Both devices are on 8.1.0 OS. I have uninstalled AA and re-installed several times and each time it requests and is given the necessary permissions. Even then the Pixel XL2 will not reliably connect like the Pixel XL1.

Considering that both devices are on the same OS I’m racking my brain and reviewing settings in the Pixel XL2. If anyone has had a similar issue or may know of a fix please chime in!

UPDATE:

I gave up and reached out to tech support and discovered that there is a 'network reset' which has partially resolved the issue. While not functioning perfectly, it is now connecting after a slight delay.

Iwas it a network reset of the phone itself? Any other details you can provide? My Elephone S8 isn't working, but my cheap ZTE was.
