Android Auto keeps 'hanging' until reinstalled

Android Auto keeps hanging after (and sometimes even before) I attempt to use the maps bit (which - for me - has Google Maps and Waze on it)(after pressing the Navigation button on the screen).

If I uninstall the app on my phone and then reinstall it this appears to fix the problem for a bit, but then it starts being naughty again. Any ideas??

Oh right, yeah, good point. It's a Huawei P10 lite with Android 7.0.
