Android Auto No Longer Launches

In the last several months I have installed several Android Auto capable head units in our vehicles that have functioned without issue. I recently received the 8.1 OS update and noticed that AA no longer 'launches' when connected to the Head Unit with the USB cable. Unfortunately, I also installed a backup cam in this vehicle and am uncertain if the issue is with the OS update or the cam install.

Is anyone else experiencing issue with Android Auto post 8.1 update?

Update:
I have 'reset' the head unit and uninstalled and reinstalled Android Auto which is now working. I'm still experiencing random intermittent failure to sync after 8.1.
