Android auto

I am new to Android having switched from iPhone. I use my phones gps in my truck which has android auto. The issue I have is that I am not able to find a keyboard to enter in addresses when android auto is on. My truck is a new 2017 check and everything if fine there. Can anyone tell me where I find or what I click on my trucks touch screen to bring in a keyboard to enter the address please?

Thanks

When you bring the navigation screen up, nothing appears when you hit "Choose Destination".

From there, if I hit "Choose Destination", the keyboard pops up and I can type without issue. Doesn't that work for you?

Did you grant Android Auto all the relevant permissions when it first opened? Also, what keyboard are you using?

Yes I authorized it all.i am using the Google Gboard keyboard as the default one is simply to tiny. Nothing I do brings up a keyboard.

Thanks

I use gboard too without issue.

Not sure what to suggest as I can't recreate the issue and there's nothing in Android Auto settings that I can see would prevent a keyboard being displayed.

Try clearing cache/data of the Auto app, failing that a reinstall?

I'm looking for the keyboard on my 2017 Chevy colorados touch screen display. The first day that I connected to it I was able to use the keyboard and now it is no where to be found . Again. I'm not looking for the Android auto keyboard on my phone rather on my trucks display which is where it should be.
