Android bluetooth accessories (handsfree devices)

Almost every device on the market which provides handsfree phone calls, works flawlessly with an iPhone. Maybe this is because of Siri but I believe this has been true since iPhone was announced.

I am looking for earpiece and car devices which work as well with Android, and I have bought several with disappointing results.

I just purchased a Samsung HM7000 hoping that it would work, but it is unable to communicate with my phone (except for answering calls); the available software in the Play store is not compatible with any of my devices. I gave it to a friend who paired it with his iPhone and it started working immediately. He can make calls, dictate text messaages and ask it to read text messages.

I have a similar problem with my car device, which is a Mororola T325. It only works sortof, without any of the capabilities of an iPhone compatible device.

Is this a problem with Android or the manufacturers? Is there some software that I can get which will duplicate the capabilities of the iPhone? I have installed Skyvi, and it works pretty well, but it only responds when it is running and listening through my phone.

Except for this problem, I much prefer the Android environment and am not really interested in moving to the Apple world.

Any information you can give me will be appreciated. If there is a better forum, please let me know, too.

Thanks,

Bob

I've had a Motorola earpiece for years, works with every phone I've had (Symbian/Featurephones/Wildfire S/Xperia U). my InPhase headunit in the car works perfectly with my Xperia U, both for phone calls and streaming music. I also have an Altec Lansing T515 Bluetooth speaker which works flawlessly with both my Android phones and N7 tablet.

What Apple functionality in particular did you want to have?

I'm not looking for much really. I'd like to be able to call by using a name (my Motorola will do that, but my Samsung won't), but can not the capability to dictate and read text messages be duplicated somehow? It would be nice to be able to transmit driving directions from the phone to the ear piece or car device.

What model earpiece is your Mororola, Davdi? I'll look into that. I'll look at the Altec-Lansing also, but it appears to be more of a speaker system.

Thanks,

Bob
