Android box with iplayer support?

Hi,

Seen a few posts saying that various players dont support bbc iplayer / issues with the Flash version.

Any recommendations for a box which can run iplayer smoothly? (ideally the app, but via browser might be ok to if its smooth playback)

Allwinner don't support the iPlayer app, they will redirect to the iPlayer website which does work provided you change browser to request desktop variant.

Amlogic players do work with iPlayer app. If your in the UK Sumvision Android boxes are Amlogic based though these are based on the older generation Amlogic 8726M1 chipsets. Newer models based on the 8726M3 are available through Ali-Express and eBay, there is one on Amazon UK too. The new chipset runs Android 4 out of the box & supposedly a bit better than the older 8726M1.

The official GoogleTV Sony box for sale in the UK should also be getting iPlayer.

In fact i'm in hong kong, so should be able to get all the Chinese ones relatively easily. (of course will need vpn or dns in order to watch iplayer from here)
