Help Android data

[Android Question]

Hi! I use about 8GB/month. Yesterday morning I had about 4, and in the evening when I wanted to turn off data I noticed that I used more than 20GB in less than one day, in fact not me, but the Android OS! What caused this? Thx

More than likely caused by a rogue app. There have been a couple of cases recently of high data usage reported as 'OS' but apparently due to 'Pikek' which is some sort of modded Kik.

Are you using that or something similar?

Have you recently downloaded any apps from a source other than Playstore?

Have you got a decent battery usage app? The stock battery monitor on my HTC is not very useful so I use GSam Battery Monitor which has good recommendations.

Using this or similar you could try and correlate the high 'OS' data usage with high battery usage by one or more apps/services.

What is your make/model/android version? I have just noticed two other reports of very similar data usage.
