Android Device Mgr won't Ring Phone when Asleep

Just installed Android Device Manager on my Droid X, and it works well except when the phone is asleep. Then it won't locate the phone or ring it. The Wi-Fi Sleep policy is set so Wi-Fi stays on when the phone goes to sleep. The battery mode is set to "Maximum battery saver." Is the battery mode interfering with ADM?
