Android Facebook App - Privacy issue?

My wife and I both have Android phones. Curiously, after installing the Facebook application on our phones, we found that our cell phone numbers had been inserted into our profiles!

I, for one, don't want Facebook grabbing my cellphone number. I manually deleted it from my Profile using a PC, and so far it hasn't returned.

Anybody else seen this?

hahaha...you used "Facebook" and "privacy" in the same thread title! Most certainly others have seen this...the app was written to do that. It's Facebook. It ultimately does not exist for the benefit of anyone except those who make money off it. I agree that Facebook has its uses, but you pay in ways other than monetary for using it. That part of Facebook will never change.

It's commendable that you noticed it and commented on it; I expect there are those who may not have noticed and you're doing them a service.

Keep in mind that you will always need to be on the lookout for such things with any social network app, especially Facebook.

I have a question. After installing the app, did you sync the contacts? Or does it just do this automatically without even asking your permission?
