Help Android File Transfer issue

Lurker
Hey guys i'm new to the forum and to Android for that matter.

I have a MAC and i'm trying to simply take the videos I have recorded on my Note 4 and transfer them to my Mac desktop.

I use to use Kies but it just gives me nothing but issues. I'm trying to use Android File Transfer. When I try to drag and drop the mp4 from Android File Transfer to my Mac's deskstop it states it's unable to copy file. How the hell can I get this to work or is there anything else I can do to transfer stuff from my phone to my Mac?

Appreciate any help.

When you say you have used Android File Transfer do you mean you have plugged the phone into the mac with a USB cable and mounted it as a USB drive?

If your having issues using USB, another alternative would be to use Airdroid which I think is compatible with Macs, or you could copy your files into Google Drive and download them from the web.

If the videos are on the SD card you could just use a card reader.

Can AFT copy other files, i.e. is it to do with file type, size or destination, or is it not working at all?

I have to look into AirDroid along with Google Drive.

How do you do this?

I guess you are asking about Android File Transfer rather than a card reader. With my HTC One I just connect to the Mac via USB and drag files from the AFT window to a Finder window, and drop them into whatever folder I want. I personally don't keep any files or folders on my desktop, so have never tried dropping them to the Desktop folder, but can't think why that one should be different.

I think it's important that you answer this question, more specifically can you transfer other files such as photographs or documents and is it just video files that won't transfer?

Depending on the OS X version and the Android device, Android File Transfer (the Mac version of Windows MTP provided by Google) either works incredibly well or has coniption fits.

Apple has been screwing with the depths to cause that.

If it's hit you and a simple USB plug in won't work, definitely follow the earlier advice and try AirDroid.
