Help Android file transfer

Captain Sexy

I'm trying to import all my photos over from my Mac to my S10 that I took off of my old phone. I turned on developer options, enabled usb debug and changed usb to transferring files. I keep getting the device not found. Any suggestions to get this to work?

That should suffice, though I don't have an S10 to test with. I'm not convinced that USB debugging is even needed. Do you have the latest android file transfer (it was updated last year after many years of neglect)? The older version was very poor at finding devices on recent MacOS versions.

In the limit there's always the "use a card reader to copy them to the SD card" option

I do have the latest android file transfer. I'd rather not do the SD card then I'd have to buy one. Even Samsung smart switch didn't connect (prob because of aft).

FWIW I do have a Mac, but I've never been able to make Android File Transfer work with any Samsung phones. But it's worked with Huawei and Oppo phones I've had no problem.

AFT has been at version 1.0 for years now, and I just don't think that Google is really interested in maintaining and supporting it. And Apple wants you to buy iPhones and iPads to go with your Mac.

It was updated in 2017, after 4-5 years of neglect. Though it will need another update soon as the writing is on the wall for 32 bit applications on MacOS.

I honestly do not see any advantage in an iPhone to go with my Mac. In fact my Pixel can use my Macbook's charger and cable, which an iPhone cannot ;).

Great news all !!! Ralph Holmes was absolutely right. I had Smart Switch app installed on my MacBook Pro. I had tried android file transfer app in vain, tried all options, debugging, developer options, restarting so many times, yet ..... nothing. I was about to give up, and was contemplating buying an online software. But I was upset, why should I spend money just to sync and transfer files from/to my mobile to/from my PC.
I thought I will give it one last try by removing Smart Switch from my Mac. Then I reinstalled Android File Transfer app and guess what?
yippeeeee........ it works!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Ralph, was good advice. I can not think how one app could prevent another from working, but there you are.
