Android games - lack of - will this change?

Thats possibly the only thing putting me off switching to an Android from an iphone at the moment.

Lack of games from the big manufacturers such as Popcap, Gameloft etc.
Also, things like Civ Revolution, Red Alert, Doom, Quake, etc for the iphone.

Does anyone think these will start appearing on the Android?

Once Android starts catching on and starts to show it can be a profitable market, than yes, games should show up. That's what really drives these companies. If they don't see a platform as a viable market, they won't waste time and money to make a application.

Some games have already been ported from the iPhone to Android, like Paper Toss. So its entirely possible to do.

If you adopt an Android, there will be more games. It's that simple.

It was my biggest concern when going from iOS to Android. I just downloaded some emulators and now I don't even miss them.

PSX emulator is already available. N64 emulator coming up. No great shortage of games, really.

Oh, Gameloft's already ported some iPhone titles over. Not recent ones unfortunately, but there're a few.

I find it funny that half the things you listed already exist for Android.

^Yeah... quake is already working on some android phones, gameloft is already in the android dev. game for android, as well as EA and some others.. so id say yes android is behind, but is not that behind
