I've been reading about Android Go being optimized for devices with 1GB RAM or less. I was wondering how feasible it would be to modify the existing firmware of a cheap Chinese phone (HomTom HT17) that has 1GB and runs Android 6 with some lag to run Android Go (Oreo).
As I see it, the process would go something like this:
* Download latest official Android from homtom.cc
* remove stock android, leaving drivers and other device-specific firmware
* drop in Android Go
* maybe add Su binary/Busybox/Supersu for root
* do a make/build
*Flash the (apparently stock) firmware
and have a more responsive phone with a newer OS
(Of course there's probably huge gaps in my knowledge, that's why I'm asking.
Mods - If this is in the wrong sub-forum, please move it to where you think it belongs.
