Android Hearing Aid Streaming

I purchased a pair of Widex Evoke hearing aids. They have helped me quit a lot.
However, my audiologist tells me they will not stream cell phone calls directly to my new hearing aids unless I have an Apple iPhone. Very disappointing. I'm an Android kind of guy.
Can you offer me any hope at all that Android will eventually offer this technology?

Yes, there is an app on my Android cell that controls volume and other elements of the hearing aids. However, only the app made for the Apple iPhone will stream phone calls to the hearing aids. I am told it's because the Apple company provides proprietary programming in its operating system to allow for call streaming.
