Help Android Hotspot Tethering Issues>>>

So, I'm trying to tether my Acer Chromebook to my mobile phone using 4G data connection. My laptop shows connected with a strong signal but I have no internet on it. My phone shows that my Chromebook is connected. It makes no sense b/c both devices show they are connected with a strong signal. My phone is an LG X Charge android OS. What could be the problem?? Thanks!!!

I want to make sure I'm clear: you DID go to your phone's connection settings and enable hotspot, correct?

If so, then depending on the plan you have with your carrier, the hotspot feature may or may not be included.

Yes, mobile hotspot is turned on...must be my provider (carrier)

Who is your carrier and are you in the US? Because AFAIK many carriers there do restrict and/or disable hotspot tethering unless you pay an extra fee. And Three in the UK also does the same.

Carrier is C-Spire based out of central Mississippi USA....I'm almost positive that my carrier is blocking the tethering.

Apparently you have to pay an extra $20 bucks a month for tethering...OUCH!!

FWIW tethering a computer to a phone is something I've never had to pay extra for,(I'm in China), but it seems that most US carriers will gouge you for every nickel and dime they can.

Did you purchase the phone from the carrier, or is it unlocked? Do you use a VPN?
