android market - badly laid out?

I froze the updater and went back to 2.3.6, I feel is a much better layout. Wish list: You open it and it goes straight to your apps, not to advertizing. You should also have a list of check boxes when you long press one:
1. Uninstall
2. Remove/delete from showing in Market
3. Auto-update check box (on every app, system or not)
4. Phone selection (you want app installed on, single or multiple)

Would be nice if apps showed an estimated "battery drain per hour"... but I'm sure no developer wants anyone to know that. Searching and advertizing should be secondary screens.

Bit of a noob question but I hate the new version of the market but when I uninstall the updates it automatically reinstalls them. For the life of me I can't remember how to stop it from doing that...help!

*Edit*
I see posts saying that I'm stuck with this rather large version and there's no way of stopping the updates unless you're rooted. Don't want to root so that is a massive pain in the butt. What a stupid thing to do, surely we should decide what takes up our vital memory and not be told what we have to have/use.

Big bunch of arse that is!

You have to root to freeze "Market Update", then you can uninstall the new one and install the old one.
