Android Marketplace & AT&T - "Bill my AT&T account" payment option not working ...

... while trying to purchase my 1st paid app from Android Marketplace this morning, when I got to the Select Payment method & the 2 options of "Bill my AT&T account" or "Add a Credit Card", the "Bill to AT&T account" option is grayed & cannot be selected ...
... apparently Google wants a C/C ...

... so ---- I did a search on Android Marketplace support to find that it's a problem that is not specific to the Atrix device (some Atrix owners can bill to AT&T account, & some Atrix owners cannot) ...
... & then ---- I contacted AT&T & was told that they were not aware of any issues with Android Marketplace billing; or not billing; the AT&T accounts (this was with both AT&T Customer Service, & AT&T Technical Support) - so they're looking into it & will call me back tomorrow ... ;)

... well anyway ---- thought I would ask the forum members about similar experiences with this not being able to "Bill my AT&T account" issue, & how it was able to be resolved - or, if it was resolved at all ...

... tia ...

I have seen some apps where it is grayed out and others where it isn't. Maybe it has to do with whether that developer is willing to allow that as an option for their app??

Good point !!!

I've contacted Level Up Studios / Beautiful Widgets support to see if the billing "method of payment" issue is something from their end ...
... &/or, if they're aware of this type of payment issue when purchasing their apps through Andriod Marketplace with AT&T accounts ...

... upon further review, & following the path of :

Google Accounts / Dashboard / Checkout / Checkout Buyer Help / Help Articles / Payments & Charges / Payment Methods / Direct Carrier Billing / Android Market / Help Articles / Carrier Billing / Overview ----- "whew" ... I finally found the following tidbit:

"Please note, at this time direct carrier billing is only available as an accepted payment method for applications sold in your country's local currency."

... apparently since the app I am trying to purchase is showing the price in Euros at final stage of purchase (with an approximate US Dollar amount indicated under it); I am assuming this is the issue / problem with trying to use the "Bill my AT&T account" option for the payment of this app ...

... oh well, on to Plan B; I guess ... :D
