Android Media TV Box - Help please!

I need your help.....badly.

I purchased this from ebay in early last year.

I have since then been determined to run XBMC on the box, however I am struggling. I'm gonna be honest, I'm an Android noob - usually I'm all iOS based, but I'm wanting to expand my horizons and learn about Android too.

I'm not too sure where to start. I think the best way to describe to the box is 'locked'. I can't update the firmware, I can't reset the box either. Google research has told me that there is a hidden 'reset' button in the AV slot, but I've tried this and nothing. I opened the box up and found this (see image below) hidden button (inaccessible from the outside) however, this also does nothing.

I've tried loading Linux onto a bootable SD card, in the hope it would load that and bypass the android software as it starts, but no.

I've found a few APK's on the net that are compatible but each time I find a 'market' APK, it installs but then says it can't load. Similarly, other APK's are unable to install due to a 'parsing error'.

Does anyone know of a way to access the box from it's IP address? I have both Mac and Windows available so any suggestions is great!

As annoying as this is, I have to admit it's been great learning about Android, I just wish I could have some kind of end result.

change security settings to recieve apps from unknown services ..then download android version of xbmc in websearch .. frogo latest version

Don't know what the requirements of XBMC are but this is a very underspecced device, especially these days, Froyo 2.2, 256MB RAM...you're struggling and the device is struggling. This is some cheapo thing from China, no-brand or anything to identify exactly what it is and who made it.

You might want to have a look at our off-brands thread...

Could be worth looking for more XBMC information, to see what's most suited for it.
