Android Mesmerize (Missed call/text beep??

Newbie
My old phone used to beep every 5 minutes if I missed a call or had a text message/voice mail that hadn't been checked.. Does the Android Mesmerize have this function?
 
To my knowledge the android OS does not do that but I believe there is an app to be had on the market for something like it anyway.
