Android mp3 compatibility issue

Lurker
Hey guys,
I just got myself a new motorola atrix the other day and I am already in love with it. I have run into a strange issue however involving my mp3s. It seems like there is a certain format that won't run on the android system, specifically anything I have ever downloaded from beatport.com. i am not sure what the specific format paramaters are ( ssme sort of high quality vbr I believe) but I can confirm that it doesn't work on either my Atrix or my girlfriends Galaxy tab.

The files play fine on my old blackberry, my zune, car deck, and naturally my computer. I normally wouldn't mind doing a file conversion but I have probably over 50 songs from beatport and transferring them will be kind of a pain, especially for only one device.

I can confirm that none of the songs have any sort of DRM protection and that I have tried transferring to the phone using multiple methods (drag n drop, motorola media sync (sic?), wifi sync). I have also tried playing the files with a third party media player (winamp) but to no avail.

If this issue has been addressed before then I apologize. I have tried searching the forums but I don't seem to find my specific problem. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Interesting. Android normally supports mp3 files, also if they have a variable bit rates.

Can you please get Format Factory on your PC (it's a freeware), then open it and go to Advanced - Media File Info. Open the mp3 file and copy here the analysis info.

The files look fine to me.
Here are 2 things I'd do. First, I'd try a few other music players, like MortPlayer or Mixzing (get them from Market). This should check if the default music player is the problem.
Second, the SD card could be the issue, this could be fixed by copying everything from the phone to PC (including hidden files) and re-formatting the card.

If nothing helps, you can use that Format Factory and convert all the audio files to mp3 (like with constant 192kbps bitrate).

So I tried formatting the SD but had no luck. I will go ahead and reformat the files that I am having an issue with. Thanks for pointing me to that format converter. I suppose the underlying issue still remains though. So if you or anyone else has any idea as to why these file types aren't working then it would be a great help to me and perhaps the whole android community.
