Android on low-end phones without co-processor

So far, all Android phones are high-end smart phones with a powerful app processor plus modem(s). Is Android good for low-end phones running a single processor?

well Android is light after all and can be modified {certain stuff removed etc.} so it works with the Phones Hardware so maybe but I'm no expert or dev though
