Android on the cheap

I'm looking for a GSM Android phone in the $300 range, unlocked. I travel internationally a lot, so I need something I can use with different carriers and can't do a contract in the US.

I'm thinking of the Acer liquid a1. Has the Eclair update been rolled out to the US on this phone?

Any others to consider?
