I am new to android (coming from iPhone) and returning to Verizon. I read a lot about different android phones before switching and got the Droid X. I have had it for about a week now, and I'm not sure I made the right choice, so I was hoping for some input from others who may have more experience with android and the different options on Verizon's network.
The first issue is the size of the Droid. It isn't too big to the point of being unusable, but if it was smaller, I think it would be more usable -- at least for me. It requires two hands to operate efficiently for what I use it for the most -- texting, email, and web browsing.
The second issue I have with it is the battery life. I have tried adjusting settings and using the "Advanced Task Killer" and "TaskPanel" apps. Most of my use is on the train to and from work and checking messages during lunch. I generally have very good 3G reception all the time. As mentioned above, most tasks involve messaging and reading the news (and news websites), with occasional phone calls and playing music. (I rarely, if ever will watch movies or use social networking.)
It seems as though a large portion of my battery life is being consumed by the display for web pages, texts, etc, as well as the phone being idle. From what I've read, the Droid X is supposed to have decent battery life compared to other Android phones, but I'm just not seeing it. Also, I'm finding that it may not be optimal for my typical uses -- especially when I consider the tradeoff for consuming so much battery power for what doesn't seem to require very much processing power.
Based on my typical use of the phone and what seems to be consuming a lot of my battery life, would I be better off with a different android phone such as the Incredible or Droid 2, or is the Droid X as good as it gets?
Any input is much appreciated.
Thank you.
