Help Android OS Keeps Phone Awake Constantly

Hi all,

I'm having an issue right now where my phone is constantly awake. I've installed BetterBatteryStats and it says that Awake (Screen off) is 100%. I've tried turning off Wifi and location services but it did not make a difference. Usage is from Android OS, the keep awake time is pretty much how long I've been unplugged for.

I'm not sure how to fix this, the phone is stock and running 5.1.1

Not sure if this is relevant to your S5 issue or not, but my usage rates is a lot different than you report.

Have you tried wiping the cache partition since the update, as per #1.3 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide?

Good point Ironass, of that complete list, the only app I am using is NetFlix and Facebook.

Neither of which has notifications enabled.

And, when my screen is locked DATA is OFF, and WiFi is OFF.....
no internet, no background crap going on.

I do have some of those apps, but they've been installed since before this problem started. I have tried to wipe the partition but the problem remains. Maybe I will try and clearing the data of these apps.

Which of those apps are you actually running?

Hmm yeah, but they never used to keep my phone awake all the time before. I've uninstalled Facebook, Messenger so far and hasn't made a difference. I give up, I will back up my data and do a factory reset.

unless that phone is rooted, you won't be backing up any 'real data', it is all hidden...

you best export out what data you can first, the rest is going to be totally lost. Been there, done that 3 times.
you can keep SMS, Contacts, and that is about it. you will loose your paid subscription data... seen it happen..., then you have to reload that thru the Play Store again, you can't restore it. don't work.
