Android pc now what

I finally got this Z815 connected to a Dell Inspiron with no Internet, but the phone has it. How do I copy everything from the phone to the PC? It's Windows 8.1 v. Android 6.0.1.

How do I use the phone's Internet to give the computer Internet? There's hardly any Wi-Fi in this backwater

Answering your 1st question, install a file manager from the play store. You can then move, copy files to and fro either connected by cable or by wifi with the file manager app.

OK, I got pdanet+ and it says it downloaded the other end to the PC, but I can't find it. I looked under downloads, which claimed to be empty. How do I find out where the PC part went?

Just download pdanet on your PC using your browser.
If you want install a file explorer on your phone and connect wirelessly via WiFi

That's the problem. Only the phone has Internet, not the computer. Pdanet claimed it put that part on the PC. Where is it?

Another problem is that the PC has apparently copied only some of the pictures and videos from the phone. What do I do about the rest? The phone accidentally got unplugged from the PC for a little while, but I reconnected it. Could this have something to do with it?

Open My Computer, go to your phone (shows up as a drive), and copy whatever you want to backup.

Can't help with tether. My carrier doesn't touch that. I can just go to settings and toggle it.

I wonder if downloading Ubuntu to the PC would help, as it too is based on Linux. The hard drive should be more than big enough at 200+gb. Maybe I can just carry it to some place that has Wi-Fi, big and clunky as it is. I guess I could get Ubuntu that way.

I finally dragged the PC to some place that actually has Wi-Fi. It wasn't easy but I got connected. When I found Ubuntu they were charging $15 and I couldn't just download it to the hard drive. I don't know why not, but I guess I would have to get a flash drive and burn that all up somehow. Then I found out how to check the PC if it's 64 bits... it's only 32. I don't know how I'm going to do this. Is there some old free version of Ubuntu that's 32 bits?

Thanks, that looks helpful. Do they still charge for it? I thought Ubuntu was free. Also, is there a way to download directly to the hard drive? I don't have a flash drive.

The PC imported only some of the files, photos and videos, from the Z815. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I have tried using it as a media device, mtp, and camera, ptp. I also made sure it installed the driver. Is there anything else I can do to copy them? Would Ubuntu help?

A flash drive would work instead of a DVD? i'm asking because I know where to get a flash drive. I guess that would go in the same slot that has the phone.

What's a good file manager for the PC, assuming I can ever find an Internet connection again? The one on the phone is crap. It's really slow and keeps stopping. I haven't managed to copy one file with it. Does Microsoft already include one, and if it does, what and where is it?

Where is Windows Explorer hidden? It's apparently not part of the desktop or on the hard drive. Could it somehow be missing?

That's the one with the Windows symbol, right? It has a bunch of weird tiles, one of them with Internet Explorer, but of course that's not the same thing. The only Internet I've got anyway is with this crazy phone. Meanwhile, I tried searching the hard drive and it eventually came up with a lot of them, including some called toast. Hey, don't look at me. Anyway, since none of them seemed to be an executable file, I chose the first one and tried to open it. Some sort of chalkboard briefly appeared, but it vanished before I could examine it.

How do I get rid of that password on the PC start screen? It's hard enough to handle that huge, slow machine without having to waste time on that nuisance. At least I finally found volume control's secret hiding place... much harder than a simple button on the side of a phone.

I think I got Ubuntu downloaded but it wasn't to the flash drive, at least not originally. I got it either copied or moved there. Then it asked what I wanted to use to open it. I ended up also getting Torrex because it said it was for torrents, but I still don't know how to open and run Ubuntu. I got the 32 bit desktop that was the last before the latest LTE, or whatever it's called. I think it's 16 something. I figured I could use the longest term support possible.
